If you’ve decided it’s time to step away from Facebook, the platform provides two main ways to permanently delete your account. Below is a simple guide to help you through the process, as well as details on how to cancel a deletion if you change your mind.


Option 1: Delete Your Facebook Account Through Accounts Center

  1. Click your profile picture in the top right corner of Facebook.

  2. Select Settings & privacy, then click Settings.

  3. At the top left of your screen, click Accounts Center.

  4. Under Account Settings, click Personal details.

  5. Click Account ownership and control.

  6. Select Deactivation or deletion.

  7. Choose the account or profile you want to delete.

  8. Select Delete account.

  9. Click Continue and follow the instructions to confirm.


Option 2: Delete Your Facebook Account Through Facebook Settings

If you’re unable to delete your account through Accounts Center, you can still do it through your regular Facebook settings:

  1. Click your profile picture in the top right corner of Facebook.

  2. Select Settings & privacy, then click Settings.

  3. Click Your Facebook Information.

  4. Click Deactivation and Deletion.

  5. Choose Delete Account, then click Continue to account deletion.

  6. Click Delete Account, enter your password, and click Continue.


Cancelling Your Facebook Account Deletion

If you change your mind after starting the deletion process, you have up to 30 days to cancel. Here’s how:

  • Log in to your Facebook account within 30 days of starting the deletion.

  • Click Cancel Deletion.

Note:
After 30 days, your account and all your information will be permanently deleted and cannot be retrieved.
Facebook may take up to 90 days to completely remove everything you’ve posted. During this time, your content is not visible to others. Some data may remain in backup storage for legal or recovery purposes as outlined in Facebook’s Privacy Policy.
